Insights from The Word Eirene Ministries

Our Beginnings

God’s vision for Eirene Christian Fellowship was conceived in the heart and mind of Terrence Autry in April of 1998. Pastor Autry believed that the time was ripe to begin a new contemporary ministry in a down-to-earth atmosphere. Eirene is a New Testament Greek word that means, “peace”.

Eirene began with three adult members. The church initially met for prayer, Bible Study, vision casting and planning in Pastor Autry’s home, while searching for a building to house the ministry in North Dallas. Despite the fact that the North Dallas real estate market appeared to exceed Eirene’s financial budget, the Lord surpassed human expectations. In October of 1998, Eirene Christian Fellowship reached an agreement with Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, the oldest African-American church in Dallas, to lease Mt. Pisgah’s former church facility at 14000 Preston Road in North Dallas.

The Lord continued to display His great faithfulness. He previously had moved in the heart and mind of Frederick Haynes, III, Senior Pastor of Friendship-West Baptist Church, to expand God’s kingdom by planting and supporting new churches. Pastor Haynes and the Friendship-West family lovingly sowed a substantial financial seed into Eirene Christian Fellowship. Eirene is Friendship-West’s first church plant.

Eirene held its first public worship service on Sunday, January 17, 1999. Since that time, the Lord has expanded the membership to over 300 active members who are involved in a host of ministries under the leading of the Lord. The Lord moved Eirene to two worship services in Spring 2001. On April 6, 2003, the Lord moved Eirene’s Sunday worship service to the 700-seat auditorium of E.D. Walker Elementary School, just two miles from Eirene’s current location. Eirene used the 14000 Preston Road facility to house its ministry activities throughout the week until June of 2005, when the Lord moved miraculously once again.  The Lord blessed Eirene to purchase a 15,000 s. f. facility, and to do so without a special capital stewardship program.  All services and ministry activities now are held in our multi-purpose facility at 701 E. Centennial Blvd. in Richardson TX

The Lord continues to demonstrate His faithfulness in more ways than can be numbered. To God be the Glory for doing exceeding abundantly above all we can ask or think.
